South African spoken word artist Lazarusman debuts on Connaisseur, presenting two stunning collaborations with Stimming and Fka Mash.

‘Mend It’ is about loss, not necessarily the loss of a lover but loss in general. Loss can break the heart in a number of ways and at times we often struggle to reconcile some of the losses we go through in life. Our hearts break but they never truly mend. Lazarusman has experienced much loss, and sometimes he wishes he had the power to mend broken hearts. ‘Mend It’ is a deep and intense builder ending in a highly satisfying and hypnotic groove with a touching melody sprinkled on top, perfectly underlining the strong words of Lazarusman.

‘Your Eyes’ marks the beginning of a friendship, a romance, an argument. This song is a celebration of those moments when our eyes meet, whether in the dark or in the light. The track itself is not easy to classify; it combines elements of captivating electronica and abstract afro beats with the powerful visual spoken words of Lazarusman.
